The split is part of OTB’s organisational restructuring and will make Margiela Japan a 100 percent subsidiary of the group. Takeshi Yokomizo, CEO of Staff International Japan, will take office concurrently serving as the Representative Director, President, and CEO.

In Japan in 1999, the three companies comprising Neuf, from France; the Mitsubishi Corporation; and Orizzonti-established Kokonoe Ltd assisted Maison Martin Margiela  with its Japanese business launch. In 2000, the first high street shop opened in Ebisu, Tokyo. Then, in 2008, Staff International, under the umbrella of Diesel founder Renzo Rosso led- OTB, became a major shareholder and also developed other brands the company manufactures and sells such as Dsquared2. In 2010, Staff International acquired all shares and resolved the joint venture with Mitsubushi Corporation and the company name was changed to Staff International Japan the following year.

Staff International Japan has launched the brands Dsquared2, Just Cavalli, and Marc Jacobs Men. Following the brands’ first establishment, Italy’s Staff International, who have been handling Maison Martin Margiela’s manufacturing and sales, along with being responsible for production for a large number of other brands, came under the umbrella of OTB in 2000.
