Victoria Place, the £700 million regeneration scheme in Woking town centre, officially opened on Wednesday, anchored by M&S

The new M&S store is a regional flagship covering 50,000 sq ft over two floors and offers the firm’s full product and dining line-up.

An M&S spokesperson said the destination “aligns seamlessly with our community-focused ethos. Victoria Place’s positioning right in the heart of Woking creates the perfect location for customers to shop and peruse our store, food hall and café with ease.  We look forward to this next chapter for M&S and are feeling optimistic on a bright future at this key regional location”.

The debut also saw Moss Bros and Skechers stores opening their doors, along with a variety of food and beverage locations.

Subsequent stages of Victoria Place will open over the course of this year and The Gym Group will open there next month, “further diversifying Victoria Place”.

In fact, Woking Borough Council and Moyallen Group have focused on attracting a wide variety of tenants and Italia Conti Dance Conservatoire will launch in July in a 47,000 sq ft musical theatre, acting and dance facility. Also making its debut in the summer is Woking Superbowl, a new 16-lane bowling experience in a 26,500 sq ft space.

There will also be a 22-storey, 189-bed four-star Hilton Hotel.

And while the development may have less retail then we might have expected of a similar development just a few years ago, this variety of tenants is guaranteed to help the location attract higher footfall in the ‘new normal’, which will help the retailers that are there.
