French luxury label Celine, founded by Céline Vipiana in 1945 and bought by LVMH in 1996, has appointed Caroline Orjebin-Yousfaoui as head of CSR. Orjebin-Yousfaoui was previously at the Suez Group, and is now in charge of Celine's sustainable development strategy, working alongside designer Hedi Slimane, the label’s creative director since February 2018, and Séverine Merle, CEO since April 2017

Orjebin-Yousfaoui graduated with a law degree from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and a masters in international relations focused on China and the Maghreb from Inalco, the French National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations. The executive then specialised in managing the direct environmental impact of corporations, using tools like carbon audits and offsets. She has notably been a member of the governance bodies of the Suez Group and the LYDEC Foundation in Casablanca, Morocco.

Orjebin-Yousfaoui took charge of Celine’s sustainable development policy in early November. Her mission will be to reconcile the challenges facing the luxury sector with greater environmental responsibility.

Celine is experiencing robust growth in 2022, driven by the success of the "Triomphe" and "16" handbags, the key strategic leather goods models for the label that is part of LVMH’s fashion and leather goods division and is present in five continents with 178 mono-brand stores.

LVMH has deployed multiple global initiatives to promote its sustainability efforts, notably by shining a spotlight on its most environmentally friendly stores and via the LIFE programme, an environmental road map aimed at improving the sustainability performance of the group's labels for the next 10 years.
