On 14 September Return to Sender unveiled its new e-store. The initiative, founded by Dutch actress Katja Schuurman, now sells its accessories and furniture, made by women in developing countries and Dutch designers, via its own channel; Hudson’s Bay; Tropenmuseum; and design stores across the country.

The company launched in 2006 and exclusively sold its products at Hema until the relaunch. In an interview with AD magazine on 9 September, Schuurman said that in recent years sales via Hema had fallen, and therefore the decision was made to relaunch Return to Sender.

In addition to a new e-tail site and new points of sale, the relaunch consists of a collaboration with Dutch designers, including bag and accessory designer Omar Munie. Together they aim to stimulate fair trade and entrepreneurship by working with women in developing countries who produce the designs. Other notable designers involved in Return to Sender are Floris Hovers; Laure de Monchy; Toya Verberne; Simone Post; and Christien Meindertsma.

The online store offers products priced between €5 and €180. Products are made in Nepal; Thailand; Mali; Bangladesh; Indonesia and Ecuador.

To date, Return to Sender has created more than 5000 jobs worldwide through sales of more than 1.5 million products.
