Prada has appointed Alessandra Marsicola as Regional Director North-West Europe. Marsicola is a specialist in the retail market in Asia, where she worked for Prada since 2012. She was formerly Retail Director for Prada Japan and CEO of Prada China. In her new role, she will take charge of the Italian luxury label’s business in the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia, Monte Carlo, Belgium and France.

Since May 13, Marsicola was already overseeing Prada’s operations in the latter country, having taken over as Prada Retail Director France, replacing Stefano Cantino.

Davide Sesia will take over from Marsicola in Japan, and Armando Tolomelli will be the new man in charge of Asia.

Marsicola’s knowledge of the Asian market - she worked in China and Japan for Prada and other Italian brands since 2004 - should be an asset in Prada’s efforts to increase its business with Asian tourists in Europe. Chinese consumers alone generate nearly one third of the annual value of all luxury goods purchases worldwide.

Prada had a troubled year in 2017, brightened however by an 8% sales growth in the Greater China region. In the last financial year, the Prada group generated a revenue of €3 billion.
