After having stopped operations in Panama in 2016, MAC has opened a new store in Panama's Albrook Mall and plans to expand retail operations in the country with Central American distribution partner, Saint Honoré.

Estée Lauder Companies Inc.'s MAC opened its new boutique in the Koala section of Albrook Mall. The boutique is 880 square feet. It is the first of several new retail locations planned for the country.

For the new Panama locations, MAC has partnered with Panamanian importer and distributor Saint Honoré to implement a new retail marketing and distribution plan for the country.

Saint Honoré has previously partnered with Gucci, Hermès and Michael Kors to expand those retailers' brand presences in Panama and Chile. It also has helped Cartier build its business in St. Martin and St. Barts.

Saint Honoré will function as the official distributor of MAC in Panama. The entity plans another two openings of retail boutiques for the brand in Panama by the end of 2017.

MAC has a strong presence through Latin America but had ceased operations in Panama since 2016.

According to NPD, MAC was the best selling makeup brand in Mexico for 2016. It is a top brand in Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Paraguay. Reentry into Panama will be beneficial for MAC's bottom line for the Americas.

The new MAC boutique is now open in the Koala section of the Albrook Mall. The Albrook Mall is five minutes outside of Panama City. The retail destination offers 700 shops ranging from Converse to Oscar de la Renta. The mall hosts banks, supermarkets and a Wyndham Hotel in addition to being a retail destination.
