Claridge's hotel in London has revealed that Karl Lagerfeld will design its annual Christmas tree, set to be unveiled later this month.

This will mark the eighth year that Claridge's has invited a designer or visionary to undertake the design for its tree, whose unveiling symbolizes the start of the festive season. The iconic designer and creative force will follow in the footsteps of designers Jony Ive and Marc Newsom, who together worked on the 2016 tree for the luxury hotel, creating a light-filled immersive installation based on the idea of a magical forest.

Details of Lagerfeld's design have yet to be revealed. The fashion icon is known for his cutting-edge approach to style, notably as creative director of Chanel and Fendi and through his signature brand. His creativity also extends into fields such as illustration, photography, interior design and publishing.

"Christmas trees are the strongest 'souvenir' of my happy childhood," said Lagerfeld of his collaboration with Claridge's.

Claridge's 2017 Christmas tree will be unveiled in the hotel's lobby on the morning of November 22.
