On 20 and 21 October 2017 the city of Zwolle will host the Dutch Knitting festival Nederlandse Breidagen at the IJselhallen. The festival is the biggest fair dedicated to knitting and crocheting in the Netherlands and available to hobbyists and professionals.

The festival will be home to 78 international exhibitors, including Caro’s Atelier, the Netherlands; Treliz, Greece; and Poppeke Wol from Belgium, who will sell yarns, patterns and accessories during the festival. In addition to the market place, the festival will also host lectures, demonstrations and a 'yarntasting.' At a yarntasting visitors can test different types of yarns, while a host informs the visitors about the composition and the yarn’s way of spinning.

The main guest is German designer Melanie Berg, also known as Mairlynd. Berg mainly designs shawls that are highly recognizable from the graphic approach and color use. During the festival, Berg will host a lecture and three different master classes daily.

Zaans Geluk, a store specializing in wool, will host a special event. The store is participating in the Knitted Knockers charity, knitting breast prostheses for women with breast cancer. During the festival the prostheses will be on display and are also available for free for those in need.

The Nederlandse Breidagen is an event by Second Events, which specializes in textile fairs and events since 2002. In addition to the Dutch Knitting festival, the company also organizes Handwerkbeurs in the Netherlands and Belgium, which is the largest trade fair in textile hobbies.
